About Us / FAQs

Here at Travel Sucker our mission is to help you plan the trip of a lifetime that you won't spend the rest of your lifetime paying off.

Why do we need another travel website?

There are many travel websites out there, but very few provide you with good, concise and independent information and advice on how to plan a multi-month trip on a small budget.  That's what this website is for.  We spent a lot of time researching and planning for our trip and we thought it would be good to share what we've learnt with others to make their planning easier.

Why is it called Travel Sucker?

Because hopefully by using this website you can avoid being suckered in by some of the many traps out there that cost you money that you don't need to spend.  Its okay to be a sucker for travel, but you don't need to be a travelling sucker!

Why does your website look so average?

We're fairly new to the world of web design so please bear with us as we learn from our mistakes.  The website itself is new as well, so if you notice there isn't much here, don't give up on us, there should be more topics being added frequently.  We're initially focussing on content, and once we've got a decent amount of material on here we'll then put some effort into making it look nice and shiny, and maybe add some comments sections and things so you can add your own thoughts on the topic.  By the way, if you think it looks budget now, you should have seen the very first version!

How do you make money from this website?

At the moment, we don't.  But eventually we're planning to add a few small Google ads here and there relevant to the topic of the page.  When you click on the ad to go to the advertiser's website Google pay us a couple of cents (a small portion of what they charge the advertiser for their ad).  Its probably never going to make a fortune, but we'd like to think that one day it might at least cover the costs of web hosting for this website.

Who are you?

We're a young married couple from New Zealand who spent 11 months travelling around the world in 2009.  Tony is the guy.  His normal job is a chemical and process engineer, and he's likely to be the one who wrote most of the content you'll read on this website.  Hayley is the girl.  Her normal job is a speech and language therapist and as a pastor's assistant at our local church.  Her main task on the website is to make sure it stays interesting and enjoyable to read.  If you like you can check out our travel blog from our trip in 2009 at:  www.bugbitten.com/tonyandhayley

We don't claim to be travel experts, but we've learnt a lot and we think you'll find plenty here that can help you in planning your own big adventure.

Enjoy!
